To date, Rat Death No. 1 is a popular, fairly effective and inexpensive means to combat rodents. Moreover, in terms of reliability and ease of use, this drug often surpasses poison based on traditional poisons. However, the relatively high efficacy of the drug against rats and mice is associated with its high toxicity to humans and domestic animals in general. For this reason, even despite the seemingly obvious order of use, when working with Rat Death, you must strictly follow the instructions for use, the important nuances of which we will talk about below.
The tool can poison rats and mice both in everyday life and in various industrial enterprises, in commercial premises and catering establishments. The method of using Rat Death and, as practice shows, the effectiveness of the drug is practically independent of the type of object on which it is used, however, in order to successfully control pests, in each particular case, the correct calculation of the amount of funds is required.

“... The task was this: to buy poison from rats so that she would not stink at all, not fall under the feet of a cleaner in the office and in the production hall, but at the same time to work. I was appointed a purchaser. Apparently, they realized that I would not get kickbacks on such a purchase. As a result, I bought the drug Rat Death 1. I do not know, maybe there is Rat Death 2, but the first option suited us. I bought 45 packages for all the money allocated, I had enough for all the rooms, and then to report new packages instead of the ones that were consumed. At first, I was confused by these bags with pieces similar to plasticine, I thought that this was some new way. I thought rats wouldn’t behave on them. But no, they pecked, they literally staged a hunt for these packages. And what is the result? After about a couple of weeks, we no longer noticed the rats, although sometimes their fresh excrement came across. A month later, there was no trace of their activity. In the hall, under one control panel, a dead rat began to stink, it was very unpleasant, I had to lift floorboards and get it out. But overall, the poison is good, I can recommend it. ”

Rat Death No. 1 is produced by the Ukrainian company Ital Tiger LLC, whose production facilities are located in Dnepropetrovsk. It is not known what prompted the owners of the company to choose such an original name for it, but the manufacturer himself says that the product is manufactured on Italian and German equipment, and that substances purchased in Italy are used as active ingredients.
Like many other products based on blood anticoagulants, Rat Death No. 1 is available in the form of pasty briquettes, packed in filter paper that allows odors to pass through (in turn, this is packed in a dense polymer film). As auxiliary components in the preparation, natural flavors, flour, vegetable oil and sugar are used - additives that increase the attractiveness of rodents.
On a note
Practice shows that Rat Death No. 1 is effective, first of all, against rats, because they prefer products that look like meat, sausage or fish in appearance and consistency. But grain-eating pests - mice and voles - are less likely to eat this poison, although with proper persistence you can also get rid of it with its help.
It should be borne in mind that there is also Rat Rat No. 2 on sale - let's look at the differences between this drug and Rat Death No. 1 in more detail ...
Rat Death # 1 and Rat Death # 2: what's the difference?
Fundamentally, Rat Death No. 1 and Rat Death No. 2 are distinguished by the active substances: in the first drug, brodifacum is the active component, and in the second, bromadiolone.
For the rat fighter himself, this difference is important because bromadiolone is more toxic to rats. And since less poison is required to poison one animal, Rat Death 2, generally speaking, is more rational in purchase and use.
In addition, Rat Death number 1 has a blue-green color, and Rat Death number 2 is more like pieces of meat. Which, by the way, makes the second poison even more attractive to rats.
The photo below shows the Rat Death # 1:
And here is Rat Death # 2:
The price of both poisons is approximately the same: they cost about 70 rubles for a package of 8 briquettes (weighing 100 grams) or about 120 rubles for a package of 16 briquettes (weighing 200 grams).
On a note
As mentioned above, in general, Rat Death No. 2 is preferable for use - also because the bromadiolone used in it is less harmful to the environment. In particular, the disposal of soil residues or rats poisoned by it reduces the load on soil biocenoses. At the same time, according to environmentalists, brodifacum (contained in Rat Death No. 1) poses a great danger to the environment. For this reason, the production of bromadiolone in Italy requires lower costs for obtaining permits and is more economical than the production of brodifacum for Rat Death No. 1.
Active substances of drugs and their effect on rats
Both brodifacum and bromadiolone are anticoagulating rodenticides. When rats enter the liver, they prevent the formation of vitamin K, which is responsible for blood coagulation. The lethal dose of the anticoagulant leads to the development of extensive hemorrhages in the internal organs and the death of animals 3-4 days after eating the poisoned bait.
Such a "delayed" action of the poison is very important from a practical point of view: rodents do not feel the poisoning effect for a long time after a single meal, and therefore they safely use it again and again, and also lead to the poison of their fellow tribesmen. In this case, anticoagulants are not excreted in the urine, gradually accumulate in the body of animals and kill them when a lethal dose is reached.
Nevertheless, brodifacum and bromadiolone are able to kill a rodent even after a single use of the drug, if the animal eats a sufficient portion of it. This is the main difference between the active components of Rat Death and the first generation anticoagulants. However, even with the use of a significant amount of poison, the death of the animal does not occur immediately, but with a certain delay.

“We laid out Rat Death all over the kitchen in the corners and closed the doors for the night so that the cat would not find. In the morning two tablets were nibbled, we collected everything, the next night we laid it out again. And the next morning in the middle of the kitchen in the morning they found a mouse. She was still alive, but barely moving, twitched a couple of times when her husband touched her, but could not escape. In general, abnormal behavior, it seems to me, because I thought that the animal in its nest would die, and that some kind of terrible death should be, with agony. But, it doesn’t matter, the mouse died, and new ones didn’t appear, that is, the method worked ... ”
Marina, Odessa
The amounts of active substances in the rats Death Rat No. 1 and No. 2 are selected so that the rodents do not feel their taste and do not alert when eating. So, the proportion of brodifacum in the drug is 0.005%. Additionally, flavoring agents and flavoring agents (including vegetable oil) were introduced into the composition of the products, which mask the residual aftertaste of the poison and attract rats and mice.
The lethal doses of brodifacum and bromadiolone, as well as lethal amounts of the preparations themselves, are given in the table:
Substance / Remedy | Lethal dose, black and gray rats, for 1 animal | Lethal dose, house mice, for 1 animal |
Broadifacum | 0.1 mg | 0.012 mg |
Bromadiolone | 0.3 mg | 0.03 mg |
Rat Death 1 | 2 g | 0.24 g |
Rat Death 2 | 6 g | 0.6 g |
An adult rat eats about 50 grams of food per day on average, and a mouse - about 5 grams. That is, if a hungry animal finds a bait, then with a high probability he will eat a portion fatal to him.
To date, there are no known cases of the occurrence of resistance of rodents to brodifacum or bromadiolone. If a rat or mouse in the room eats enough poison, it will die.

“It is very difficult to buy Rat Death in St. Petersburg. They didn’t find it in hardware stores; several online stores seem to be selling, but they don’t answer letters, support does not work. Then they still found one normal. We bought several packages of Rat Death 1, laid them out on cardboard, according to the instructions, and pulled out of the packaging with toothpicks (such original “sushi” turned out). They didn’t see a single dead rat, but they stopped spoiling the products, which means that they died. ”
Catherine, St. Petersburg
Rules for using the product
Although the instructions for using Rat Death are quite simple, it is important not to neglect some points that may seem insignificant at first glance.
When working with the drug should:
- Prepare pieces of cardboard with a size of approximately 10x10 cm or more (poison briquette will be placed on each of them). The number of such "bait stations" should correspond to the number of places in which it is planned to place the tool;
- Open the packaging, then use a pair of tweezers or a toothpick to get the bags of poison and put them on the cardboard (using auxiliary means to contact the packages is an important point in the instructions). To combat mice, one sachet is placed on each cardboard, and two to fight rats;
- Cardboards are laid out in those places where, presumably, rats are most often found - near holes, discovered paths of movement and places where animals steal food. When fighting mice, baits are 2-5 meters apart, and when fighting rats, 4-15 meters;
- Every day all servings of poison should be checked. In place of the eaten bait should be planted new bags of Rat Death;
- When at all points the poison will remain untouched for several days in a row, we can conclude that rats and mice do not appear in the room. Cardboards with Rat Death are collected in a dense plastic bag and discarded.
If the rodent remedy is placed in suitable places and the pests quickly find it, then they begin to die on 3-4 days, and the peak of poisoning occurs, as a rule, on 6-7 days. Usually, after 2 weeks, all rodents in the premises die, and the use of poison can be stopped.
When working with Rat Death, it is important not to touch the poison with your hands so as not to leave a human smell on it - it can scare away rats and mice.
Also, you do not need to open paper filter bags: rats and mice easily crack them and get to the very poison.
In accordance with the instructions, the bags remaining after bullying, as well as the found corpses of rats and mice, should be buried in the ground to a depth of at least 0.5 m. If they are simply thrown into the garbage, then birds, cats, dogs can find and eat them in landfills. or other animals. Although it is obvious that most fighters with rodents (especially in cities) will not bother burial of poison and the remains of rats. In any case, for disposal, the remnants of the poison and the corpses of rats should at least be placed in tight bags and tied.
With some probability, rats can die directly in the room, and in places where they can get their remains can be very problematic: under the floor, behind the wall, etc. While they decompose (several weeks, or even months), there will be a strong disgusting smell.Therefore, it is not recommended to use Rat Death in rooms bordering inaccessible cavities. In these rooms it is better to fight rodents with the help of rat traps or repellers.
On a note
Many sellers say that before they die, in addition to other symptoms, the rats suffocate and try to get out into the fresh air, and therefore they will not die inside and will not stink. However, there is no statistically significant evidence that rats begin to behave this way before death. But there are real stories about how, from Rat Death, pests died and began to decompose right on the premises, and therefore you should not completely rely on the assurances of resourceful sellers.
Original Rat Death and Counterfeit
Today in Russia, at most points of sale, not the original Rat Death is sold, but its counterpart, manufactured under the Tigard trademark. In fact (strictly speaking), this poison is a counterfeit, although its composition is identical to that of the original drug and it has the same effectiveness.
The photo below shows the rat death number 1 in the original packaging from Ital Tiger:
And the next photo of us is the poison produced by Oboronkhim, Russia:
The photo clearly shows that the packaging design is almost identical, so the inexperienced buyer will not notice the difference at all.
Part of the need to create counterfeit goods is associated with economic restrictions on the sale of Ukrainian products in Russia. In particular, in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities today it is almost impossible to buy the original Rat Death.
Perhaps the only obvious drawback of counterfeiting (in addition to the somewhat unethical use of the name and emblem with a similar design) is the assurances on the package that Rat Death has the so-called mummifying effect. And many buyers are counting on such an action of the drug that supposedly prevents the spread of smell from dead rats, and willingly buy a remedy.
In fact, the poison does not have any mummifying effect and does not protect against the appearance of a smell in the room. Today, in the market of rodenticidal products, in general, it has become very fashionable to attribute the mummifying properties to drugs, since this advertising move spurs demand well. Interestingly, the effect of mummification is often claimed by companies that produce only packaging and distribution of funds, while manufacturing companies (in most cases foreign) do not mention mummifying properties at all in the instructions. And where do they come from, if the poison simply does not contain such substances that could stop the decomposition of corpses ...

“We met rats when we moved to an old house, they climb to our second floor and give us living. The presence of a cat does not affect them. We bought rat death N1, a small package like that, it cost 60 rubles. The tablets were placed in several places and the rats disappeared after a week. And a few days later a terrible stench appeared in the room, as I understood it, this poor fellow began to rot somewhere. I had to endure the terrible scumbag for a long time, it is not clear where I died ... "

The toxicity of the drug and the effects of poisoning them
The active components of Rat Death # 1 and # 2 are dangerous for humans and pets. Despite the fact that the sensitivity of humans, cats and dogs to brodifacum and bromadiolone is lower than the sensitivity of rats and mice, the risk of eating poison and severe poisoning is absolutely real. Therefore, when unfolding the bait, measures should be taken to prevent children or pets from finding it.
For this, for example, it is convenient to use closed boxes with holes with a diameter of 5-6 cm in the lower part as bait stations. A rat or mouse will easily climb into such a box, but a cat or a dog will not penetrate.
If there is no way to protect children or pets from the bait, then they should be taken to other housing during the fight against rats.
On a note
It is unacceptable to use the poison outdoors where stray animals or birds can find it. Using Rat Death to persecute dogs and cats in human settlements is an administrative offense and entails a large fine.
If Rat Death has come into contact with the skin, mouth or eyes, it is necessary to take measures to neutralize the undesirable consequences:
- If the substance gets on the skin, the contact area should be washed with warm water and soap and wiped thoroughly;
- If any part of the product gets into the eyes, they must be washed with clean water, and if irritation occurs, drip with a 20% sodium sulfacyl solution;
- If the patient is swallowed, induce vomiting and consult a doctor immediately. Before the doctor arrives, you need to drink 10 tablets of activated charcoal. Exclude any food intake.
If the dog ate the Rat Death, it should be urgently taken to the veterinarian: the animal may need to wash the stomach and intestines, intensive drug therapy, and the use of various detoxification drugs. As a rule, vitamin K is injected - it acts as an antidote for poisoning with blood anticoagulants.
On a note
Vitamin K does not neutralize the active components of Rat Death, but only compensates for their effect. For several days after poisoning, the animal should be under the supervision of a veterinarian, since the poison itself remains in the body and can begin to act, and the doctor may need to regularly administer the antidote to the animal.
How is Rat Death packaged up and how much does it need to buy to fight rodents?
Rat Death No. 1 is sold in small packaging for domestic use, and is also packaged in large containers for sale to professional rodent control services.
Today, the manufacturer offers the following packaging means:
- Packets with 8 briquettes (net weight - 100 grams);
- Packages with 16 briquettes (net weight - 200 grams);
- Plastic buckets of 2.5, 5 and 10 kg of poison.
To fight with one rat or mouse, a package of 8 briquettes will be enough. To combat several rodents in an apartment, house or office, you need to use a larger amount of the drug, in this case it is advisable to buy a package of 16 briquettes or several packages of 8 briquettes. It is advisable to buy Rat Death in bulk to remove pests in large areas.
If you have personal experience of using Rat Death # 1 or # 2 when fighting rats or mice, be sure to share the information by leaving your review at the bottom of the page (in the comments box).
Video review of the drug Rat death No. 1
And if you don’t feel like messing with the poison, then there’s a time-tested alternative method of killing rats ...
Poisoned mice with Storm tablets. I do not see mice, but there are no pills where I put them. I bought the poison Rat Death 1, put it - I'll see what the effect will be. I live in an apartment.
Rat death was first tested when mice literally walked around the house in spring. It is the mouse. At the same time, neither other types of poison, nor cats with the influx of pests could not cope. She laid out in the corners of different rooms, so for sure. The very next morning, in almost all places it was empty! She put a couple more times. And it’s just a miracle that for several days the house became quiet and calm again. Once only half-dead caught my eye, in other cases, apparently, they died outside the house. I recommend everyone to fight rodents. Very effective!
Apparently, this review was written by the seller himself. The mice die precisely in the house, they scum from them until you find where they lay back! And they really die in the most fun places.
Poison Rat death is not what it used to be. I bought it all the time. And this year is just a disaster. I buy 2 large packages a week, and so on from September. I spent a lot of money, but the result is zero. It looks like they are doing a big business on poison. I do not recommend anyone to buy.
I buy poison in one store. Maybe they are buying a fake. I do not know.
The rat did not want to eat this rat death, although it tore the bags.
And I have the same story. At first, several bags were gobbled up. A month has passed. Sachets are lying. I picked it up, I look - and they are nibbled, opened, but not eaten. So it turns out that this or that rat that ate became smarter, but the poison did not poison them, or managed to pass on the experience to others. In any case, the struggle continues, but, apparently, already without rat death No. 1. By the way, as soon as it was discovered, he planted another poison - in appearance it was one to one (they gave disinfectors at work). So they dared her for 2 hours. That is, for a week or two, rat death No. 1 lay, I thought I won, but it turns out ...
As explained in the store, the most effective original Rat death No. 1 from Ital Tiger. There is still the same on sale, only the Russian one - Tigard, but the composition is not the same and the result is zero. But there is just a fake. So watch carefully what you are buying. I have from the original all the rats disappeared. I take not the first year.
A rat started up in the barn, saw it only once. On the advice of a friend, I bought the poison "Rat Death No. 1." I lay out in the barn in the places of its habitat and near the holes for the past 6 days, there is no result. I spread the packages for the night, in the morning they are no longer there, just as the rat itself is gone. My opinion is a waste of money and time. I do not advise you to buy!
One gets the impression that these pads are harvested by rats for the winter. I do not have time to attach.
I confirm, the remedy is complete garbage. I have already spent about 5 thousand tenge.
And I have the same thing: for the third week (!) Every night I leave Rat Death in the chicken coop, the next morning there is nothing. In my opinion, these briquettes are caramel for them.
I bought 4 packs of N1. He put it in the country for two days in pipe cuts. He left for a week, arrived a week later - it smelly, but could not find all the corpses. By the way, it is better to put packages on with tweezers, since gloves leave a chemical smell.
I have chickens. In the past year rats were wound up, they walked when they gave food to the hens. I bought rat death No. 1, the corpses only had time to clean. But, apparently, not everyone was taken out. This year, history repeats itself - rats run around the chicken coop again, only they don’t want to eat rat death. I tried everything on the market under this name (different manufacturers). But the rat does not want to eat this poison! Now I will try other poisons based on substances acting on the hematopoietic system of rats.
Good luck to you all! Manufacturers, think about it - rats get used to this poison.
Tell me: I put the poison in the lower compartment of the gas oven and forgot about it. Then baked a pie. The whole family ate with pleasure. Is this substance harmful when heated?
Always used this tool. It helps. In the fall, a cat nailed. He survived the winter in the house, he grew up. In the spring they began to let out onto the street. Hanging around all day. He began to catch mice. Yesterday I caught and ate demonstratively with me, and in the evening he felt ill. Did he eat poisoned? Who had this?
Okay, I understand everything, but what does it mean to take bags with a glove so as not to leave a human smell? As we know, rats and mice eat everything that a person puts, I even twisted the bread in my palms and set - they are still like eating this bread. Or is it just poison acting like that? It even happened that I slept and the mouse in my hand played. So they don’t care if a person smells there or not, people just came up with this, judging by the forest animals, and rats and mice live among people. I read and saw about it many times and therefore wrote so that people logically begin to think. Put bags at least with your feet, the main thing, of course, then thoroughly rinse your arm or leg)
I used Rat Death 1 and was happy for 3 years, but last year I bought 4 times in different outlets and all the time I came across fakes. When the package was opened, the smell of menthol was felt. The mouse broke through the packaging, but did not eat.
On the Internet, I looked at how to determine a fake, but still ran into a fake. I bought Death to rodents (multi-colored balls), 340 grams. I did not have time to pour it. All swept away at a time. We laughed with my husband - we feed the mice with sweets. They fed for almost a month, they thought that there would be no end-edge, but they disappeared. The dead were not seen and there was no smell.
